Caption this artwork - Bird on a wheel w/ stars

I saw this piece of art on the back gate behind the Texas Pie Company in Kyle, Texas.

Anyone want to suggest a name for the piece? I didn't ask the owners if they already have one... but maybe I could suggest one. :)

Special of the Day - Meatloaf

Moments after this photo was taken, this was in my belly

Did you know that Thursday's Special at Texas Pie Company is meatloaf? I've never really been a fan of the "stuff mom used to make" meals at restaurants... but this stuff is top notch. And for $6.95 I got this and a glass of iced tea. Winning.

King Cake, Peanut Butter Pie, and Red Velvet Cake

I'm really getting bad about posting here. I turned 40 on February 5, 2013.

My party was at Milt's Pit BBQ in Kyle on February 9.

My wife bought me a Red Velvet Cake (my favorite cake), my friend sent me an actual New Orleans Kings Cake, and a wonderful friend from my church brought me a peanut butter pie from Kyle's Texas Pie Company.

It was a good day.

The Texas Pie Company
202 W. Center, Kyle, Texas 78640

If you look closely, you'll see a cat on the roof. Apparently there's an apartment behind the big slice of pie and the deck has a drainage hole the cats can fit through. They are in no danger. This proves...even cats like pie.

While you're here....

IS ANYONE ELSE DOING THE Daily Mugshot? It's pretty neat. A photo a day... today I took photo #165.

Last weekend I stopped into the Texas Pie Company and bought a mini-pecan pie. I think it was $4. Perfect to split between 2 people.

I always try and talk them into making me a mini-peanut butter pie but have been unsuccessful as of yet. I think I just have to pay for it to let 'em know I'm serious. :)

If you're ever in Kyle... the Texas Pie Company is a great place to stop in for a sandwich... or dessert.

I have taken photos around Kyle for the last 3 years and realized I've never taken a picture of the interior of the Texas Pie Company.

I ran the exterior shot back in August 2006, but never anything on the inside.

So, I'm going to fix that.

This is Spencer Thomas. When he's not fronting an awesome blues/rock band he's one of the owners of the Texas Pie Company. If you're looking for a pie that's better than your mom makes (don't tell mom) check this place out. Dutch Apple, Cherry, Fudge Pecan, Blueberry, Buttermilk Chess, Coconut Macaroon, Coconut Cream... if you've got a pie want.. drive down Center Street in Kyle and look for the HUGE slice of cherry pie. You'll thank me later.

They sell the 10" pies for between $12-$14, but if you're not wanting an entire big pie, they've also got mini-pies for like $3-$4. They've also got other dessert items like macaroons, cupcakes, brownies, and lemon bars.

If you're in Kyle for lunch, stop in and get yourself a sandwich, as Texas Pie Company is also a sandwich shop.

Oh... they also cater. They make full-pan casseroles and pot pies that are pretty darn good. That's a big thing for me to say. I hate casseroles.

Do you get the idea... I really like this place.

By the way, try their Peanut Butter Pie. It's the most amazine pie I've had in a long time. Totally my favorite pie of all time.

Cooking up Kyle Burger

The next Kyle Market Days is this Saturday, July 4.

noon, Pee Wee & The Way 'Tis

I always take the girls out there for a little fun, music, and business card collecting (my 5 year old collects business cards. Yes... I like that. Business cards are free...

Anyhow... I'm thinking I'm finally going to try one of these Kyle Burgers this week.
