This is the Hays CISD Performing Arts Center. I think this is where I'm celebrating my birthday (February 5) because there's going to be a performance of The Music Man with a family friend, Jerrod Hehr, playing the lead role.

Peter French has probably taken more photos of Kyle than I have! He's one of the biggest promoters of Kyle, and is a past president of the Chamber of Commerce, and a real cool guy. He's got an awesome eye for photography as well and has got some amazing photos of Kyle... I'll be trying to show some of his off this year...

Remember that e-mail spam you got years ago that was a dead armadillo with the yellow road stripe painted over it? Well.. this is the Kyle version... apparently a team of people thought it would be a good idea to build a sidewalk right through where a pipe was sticking up out of the ground... lazy? Inventive? Just plain dumb? I don't know... but I'd have questioned that during the frame-up of the sidewalk... or maybe when the plans called for a sidewalk right where a pipe was supposed to come up...

But that's why I'm a writer and photographer and not a building contractor..

What is a Red Hat?

The Red Hat Society takes its name from the opening lines of the poem Warning by Jenny Joseph, which starts:
“ When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
With a red hat that doesn't go and doesn't suit me.”
