May Your New Year Start Swimmingly

If you need to find me tomorrow between 1 and 3p.m. I'll be in the pool.
POLAR BEAR TIME!

Happy New Year everyone! Be safe and have a fantastic time tonight!
We're having a few neighbors over for sausage, black eyed peas, and tamales.

What is your New Year's tradition?
(We have black eyed peas for good luck)

Many parts of the U.S. celebrate the new year by consuming black-eyed peas. These legumes are typically accompanied by either hog jowls or ham. Black-eyed peas and other legumes have been considered good luck in many cultures. The hog, and thus its meat, is considered lucky because it symbolizes prosperity. Cabbage is another "good luck" vegetable that is consumed on New Year's Day by many. Cabbage leaves are also considered a sign of prosperity, being representative of paper currency. In some regions, rice is a lucky food that is eaten on New Year's Day.

we use to eat lentils to bring money during the new year, we eat 12 pieces of grape to bring good luck and we use to throw away old things from the balcony or from the window to say goodbay to the old year (usually just small things like panties, but I noticed many crashed dishes in the street coming back from the concert a few minutes ago...) :-)

Happy new year from Parma (Italy)
