Voting is when people make a decision by saying what they want. It can be for getting a leader, passing a law, and other things. When people are done voting, the votes are counted (often by machines) and the side that gets the most votes wins.

Most of the time there isn't a great deal of choice between the politicians on offer & what there is, isn't what the people really want. It's just having to pick the least worse one.
I agree I found myself voting against those who I didn't like...more than voting for someone I thought would do a good job in the position.
