OOPS.. I've failed to post for a few days. It's been hectic. Sorry.
Here's a few shots my daughter (age 6) and I got on Tuesday. She got a camera for her birthday so we went Wildflower hunting.
This is one Marlee got at the field in the Plum Creek Neighborhood next to Fergus Park/Lake/Golf Course on Fairway. She's learning.. it's sweet.
Here's my photo of Marlee taking that photo.
I caught a dragonfly in mid-air in the bluebonnets at the Kyle Cemetery.
Marlee caught these two butterflies playing in the flowers.
We also took photos of gravestones while we were out there... I'll post those tomorrow.
:)

This is the scene at the Kyle Cemetery. Thanks to KDP reader "Spence Ohana" for tipping me off about the fantastic flowers at this location. I got some really nice landscape shots from the field in front of the cemetery.
I'll post a few more of my Kyle Cemetery wildflower photos in the next few days.

Oops.. I dropped the ball for a few days. To be honest, I was working hard the whole time... you see, besides having 2 wonderful daughters (ages 3 and 3 months) and a full-time job that is awesome, I am also an entertainment writer on the side. I'm actually the editor of Austin's INsite Magazine. I was on deadline. So.. that's my excuse.
OK.. two excuses. the other is, I was working on my entries into the San Marcos Naturescapes contest. It's a photo contest put on by the Hill Country Photography Club . I entered 8 photos. The new part of the competition granted me the ability to enter a photo from anywhere in Hays County (of which Kyle is part). So... I entered this as one of my two in that category:

It's a photo I took of my daughter, Marlee, as she played in wildflowers.
I'll post my second Hays County entry tomorrow.
Happy Monday.

What's So Good About Rain?

Rain has brought fields and fields of yellow wildflowers to the area. Pretty. This week we'll call them "Nature's Fireworks"
Happy Friday.

Fenced-Flowers?

Are wildflowers really wild if they reside behind a fence?
Hmmm...ponder that.
Happy Monday.

She loves me...

I don't know what it is... must have been the rain from the last few weeks. I've getting some GREAT flower photos. Happy First of the month.

Inchworm

While taking photos of flowers I came across this little inchworm hanging out on an Indian Blanket. He didn't look like he'd eat much.
Indian Blanket you ask?
Indian blanket (Gaillardia pulchella) , also called firewheel, flowers across much of the state from April to June. When viewed in mass, its brilliant combinations of red, orange and yellow resemble brightly woven tapestries.

But What Do MAY Showers Bring?

The weather broke a little yesterday so I ran out and took some wildflower photos. I really enjoy the many colors that May in Kyle, Texas brings.

Proceed With Caution

Today's wildflower is a yellow one. I'm no expert but I think it's called a Texas Squaw Weed or Ragwort. All I know is it's in Kyle and it's cool.

Redbonnet?

Again.. it's wildflower season! I wonder... is it still called a bluebonnet when it's red? Why yes... it's the Texas Red Bluebonnet.
Pretty cool..
Happy Saturday!
