SWT Forever

SWT became Texas State University - San Marcos in 2003
I was cleaning my garage and came across a stack of these window clings from my Alma Mater, Southwest Texas State University. It becomes a much cooler find when you know that you can't get these anymore since 10 years ago, SWT changed their name and became Texas State University - San Marcos.

I'm having fun handing these out to friends and Alum.

ACC - Kyle

Austin Community College - Kyle, Texas Campus

I drove by the ACC Kyle Campus and was impressed with the construction thus far. It's going to be a fantastic building... and hopefully my kiddos will both be able to go there after high school.

Incidentally... ACC Kyle will be said in acronym.. ACCK.
May I suggest Bill The Cat as the mascot?

My car.
So... last year I bought a "beater" of a car... a Dodge Neon. I call it my "dog" Neon... I decided to put bumper stickers on it of the bands I like and stores I support. I'll add to it.. but this is my current collection.

My Weight Loss

AFTER - March 2013

BEFORE - September 2011

So... in September 2011 I decided to get in shape.. Here is my before and after photos. In all, I lost 75lbs. Down to 195 at my lowest.. I'm adding muscles now and I've held at 210 for the last 6 months.

My secret? Eat right and exercise to lose the weight... and eat OK and exercise to keep it off.

Pastor Barbara's Final Sermon at KUMC

The pastor at Kyle United Methodist Church, Rev. Barbara Aziz, has been transferred to Bulverde UMC... this past Sunday was her last sermon.

I hid a flamingo in the church for her... because when she arrived 4 years ago, we "flocked" her as a welcome.

"Leaf" a Mark for Pastor Barbara

Thumbprint Tree

Next Sunday (6/23/13) is the final Sunday of our outgoing pastor at Kyle United Methodist Church. Reverend Barbara Aziz has been our pastor for the past four years. She will be missed greatly. Some of the folks at church came up with the idea to create a thumb-print church family tree which she can take with her when she goes. Pretty neat idea.
I think the idea came from a wedding I shot about a month ago... and they got it from Pinterest.

Oh.. and HAPPY FATHER'S DAY.

Joe Shortino - Carrying A Cross

Joe Shortino is carrying a cross across the United States.

Joe poses for a photo outside a restaurant in Kyle, Texas 6/13/13.

I had a chance to chat with him a little when he walked into Kyle Texas on June 14, 2013. I hope to do more soon...and get a full story... but here's what I learned.

Shortino is a man VERY dedicated to God. He attended a church as a member, but hesitated in telling me which one because "that's not what this is about. It's not about the particular church, it's about God." In 2013 he embarked on a journey to walk across the United States carrying a cross. He said he felt led to do so. After praying about it for three months, he started walking about four and a half months ago.

He said he makes it about 15 miles a day depending on how many times he's stopped by people who want to know what he's doing. He welcomes all people to come talk with him, and rest assured he'll pray with you before you leave. That's what it's about.

Explaining his journey, he quoted Luke 10:2 to me. ""The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field."

This is his work. He is out in the world harvesting. A "Farmer for God" if you will.

He said he's headed down to San Antonio then will be taking a turn and heading up through the United States.

You can keep up with him at https://www.facebook.com/WCTB7

God bless you Joe... and thank you for being the hands and feet... and humbly accepting this task of bringing God into people's hearts and minds...one soul at a time.

Our family with Joe

Signatures on his cross.

Hey Blackbird

Nevermore?

I stopped at a gas station today and when I walked back to my car this bird was sitting there looking at me. That's my driver's side door its standing on... no more than 2 feet from me. Wonder if it was trying to tell me something... or if it was just playing some "no fear" game with his bird friends.

Races 2U @ Central Texas Speedway

Races 2U
Races2U is a billed as "Mobile Digital Slot Car Racing." http://www.races2u.com

This isn't the racetrack I grew up playing with... this required some skill and concentration. In order to make a lap without wiping out or wrecking you've got to have a light trigger finger. It was pretty neat to watch.

This company will set up at any event in the Austin/San Antonio area is sounds like

Tigo Wins

Tigo Wins the Washers Tournament

So, at Front Porch Days in the Plum Creek Neighborhood, the Kyle United Methodist Church had a washer's tournament for the 5th year.

Here's a shot of the winners in front of the brackets. They were kind enough to shorten their team name a "bitty" to "Tigo" for the sake of the tournament being sponsored by a church.

Fender bender on the Track - Sport Mods

At Central Texas Speedway
Watching the races at Central Texas Speedway on June 1 was awesome... here's a little fender bender during the Sport Mods race that resulted in a fight. Yes.. I took pictures of the fight too... seems the Car 96 (Rick Pollaro) was convinced it was Car 28's (Colt James') fault... and 1/2 lap later... Pollaro t-bones James. James wasn't thrilled... below is a shot of James launching out of the car going after Pollaro... who never got out of his car and ultimately left the race.

When car James got back on the track, he was in last place with about 20 laps to go. He ended up winning. Pretty amazing race.
