Merry Christmas. Happy Birthday Jesus!

It was like a Christmas miracle. Not "like" one... it actually was one. At 3:00p.m. yesterday, the City of Kyle granted the Kyle United Methodist Church a permit to occupy the New Life Center for Christmas Eve service.

This has been a long process (since about August 2007)... filled with many problems along the way, but as Pastor Harold (Dailey) said last night at the service, he received a calling and God told him they would need the space for his children..so he worked tirelessly (as did an amazing crew of contractors) to make it happen. It did.

As it turns out, there were 146 (I think that was the count) at Christmas Eve Service. Our sanctuary holds about 100. So, God was right....(that's a given) and we did need the space.

Here's some shots from the first service, a wonderful, heartfelt Christmas Eve service, at the Kyle United Methodist Church's New Life Center.

Consider these #18 in my series of the building of the New Life Center. You can track back my photos of the building by visiting #17 at this link - http://kyledailyphoto.blogspot.com/2008/11/kyle-united-methodist-church-update.html

Here's the photo taken in August 2007, just before the ground breaking for the New Life Center.

Merry Christmas everybody.

All Invited to the KUMC Christmas Festival
Boasting A Live Nativity, Games, Choir Performance, and Wassail

There’s a wonderful tradition of family and fellowship that surrounds Christmas. It is in this spirit that the Kyle United Methodist Church (408 W Lockhart St) invites all of our neighbors to our first ever Christmas Festival on December 13, 2008.

The Festival kicks off at 4:00p.m. and you’ll find refreshments like applesauce cake and wassail (a hot spiced punch). You can do some Christmas shopping as we’ll be selling hand-made items such as baby blankets, fancy Christmas bows, Jars of Joy (decorated ingredient jars for tasty soups, brownies, cookies, and beverages), and other unique gift items and baked goods. There will also be a “New To You” re-gifting booth of brand-new items that will be sold for a heavenly song.

Children of all ages will have plenty to do. We’ll have a booth for face painting and we’ll have games like “Frosty Toss,” “Pin The Nose of Rudolph,” and the “Christmas Card Toss.” We’ve also been in contact with Saint Nicholas, and he said he’d be there as well to say hello and listen to all of the children’s Christmas wishes.

The Children of the KUMC will entertain the crowds with a performance of “The Nativity.” This will include a live Nativity and narration from scripture. You’ll have a chance to sing along with the kiddos when they perform “Silent Night.” They will perform twice, at 5:00p.m. and 6:00p.m. If you’ve ever seen little ones perform…you know it’ll be fun.

Once 7:00p.m. comes, it’s time to head inside the sanctuary for an hour-long performance by the KUMC Choir, led by Choir Director Jenny Sandoval. The title of the performance is “An Old Fashioned Christmas” - The story of a man wishing for the simpler times in which to celebrate Christmas and is told through the diary of a young girl written in the late 1800's.

The KUMC Christmas Festival is free to attend. All the proceeds raised through the Festival will go towards furnishing the children's nursery or to children's playground equipment for the New Life Center being built at KUMC. The entire community is invited to attend. Additional information may be obtained by calling the church office (512-268-2331) or e-maling (KyleUMC@Verizon.net).

Over 1,000 pumpkins moved into Kyle over the weekend. It’s the third annual Kyle United Methodist Church Pumpkin Patch. Come out and pick your pumpkin from now until October 31. Patch is located at the corner of Fairway and Hartson in Plum Creek.

We’ve got pumpkins, yes we do. We’ve got pumpkins here for you!

On Friday, October 17, hundreds and hundreds of pumpkins are arriving in Kyle’s Plum Creek Neighborhood. It’s time for the Third Annual Kyle Pumpkin Patch, sponsored by the Kyle United Methodist Church.

Located in Plum Creek at the “soccer field” at the corner of Fairway and Hartson (the same location as years past), the patch is across the street from the decorated round bales (for 2008 they are Ms. Mummy and Mr. Vampire).

The Kyle Pumpkin Patch will be open from Saturday (10/18) until Halloween day. Hours of operation are 2:30p.m until dusk Monday – Friday, 9 until dusk Saturday and noon until dusk on Sunday.

There will be various prices for various sizes from under a dollar to over fifty. Also for sale are assorted fall-extras like gourds, Indian corn, and mini-white pumpkins. There’s also going to be a pumpkin maze and several staged areas do you can get your annual fall pumpkin patch photo.

The pumpkins are provided and priced by Pumpkin Patch Fundraisers, Inc. who have helped churches and non-profits raise money by selling pumpkins for over 25 years. All proceeds will go toward youth missions and activities at Kyle United Methodist Church.

Kyle United Methodist New Life Center - #13 in the series.

Those who have been here a while know I've been kind of documenting the construction of the Kyle United Methodist Church's New Life Center. This is photo is the 14th in the series. It's hard to believe it's been 3 months since my last update. See number 12 in the series by following this link.

There's been some hiccups in the building plans... but things are getting back on track.. the fence is complete and we've got the big windows in now. Cool. Here's the new update...

MULTI-FAMILY • MULTI-GENERATION

The entire congregation of the KUMC has been asked to donate items like ladies, mens and baby clothes, furniture, toys, tools, and other household items in order to replace money raised to build our New Life Center (pictured in background) after our building contractor was paid for services/materials not provided. Although legal action is pending, the congregation is planning on moving forward and finishing this building as well as the landscape and a playground. Money raised from sale of items goes towards our new building fund. Money brought in from a baked goods sale (cookies, cakes, brownies) goes towards playground equipment. The KUMC Youth will also be raising money by having a face-painting booth for the kiddos.

Visit the Kyle United Methodist Church on Saturday February 23, 2008 and help by making a purchase.
May God bless you.

The Kyle United Methodist Church's Fellowship Hall is coming along very nicely... Here's this week's offering... number 7 in the series. You can click the photo or these words to see the previous one.

Happy Friday.
I'm looking forward to tomorrow's festivities... There's the Kyle Volunteer Fire Dept. Fish Fry, a BBQ contest (I posted it earlier this week) with live music by Bruce Fallgren, Wildflower Seed and Stomp... and a scarecrow building contest! I've got a cool idea up my sleeve for that one.... I'll show you after I win!!!

If you track my Kyle Daily Photo to the first post I ever made... you'd see Bruce Fallgren. If you're interested...
